An afternoon with the dogs

Nick and I met some friends for lunch yesterday, another first for us as it was our first time in a restaurant, and he did great! We sat outside at a BBQ place in Folsom and he remained calm and fell asleep under the table like a good CCI dog. Afterwards, we took the dogs to the school yard (where we are having our KPT classes) to let them play.  Since Hope and Carlo are COC (change-of-career) dogs and aren't allowed in public any longer, we left them at my house while we had lunch and then picked them up afterwards so they could play with the pups.  Both Hope and Nick were down for the count after we got back so it actually allowed me to get some household chores done.

Here is a picture of Siena (who is littermate to Sergi who visited us last month from Oceanside, she is a half-sister to Hope), Nick and Gerrit. We told the dogs to do a "down" (which Nick and Gerrit are still learning...). Well, Gerrit did a down...right on Nick. Too cute!

Nick also had his first (and hopefully not last!) breakthrough last night too.  After dinner, we were in the living room watching TV and he was chewing on a bone, all of a sudden he got up, walked to the patio door and stood at the door...I immediately took him out and he peed and pooped! Yay, one step closer to being housebroken! This does NOT mean that he's housebroken by any means, but it IS a step in the right direction. Ahhh, the things that makes us puppy raisers happy!
